B group vitamins are extremely important for many life functions, primarily for the creation and release of energy when metabolizing carbohydrates, fats and proteins. They also act as coensims (activators) of many important enzymes and at the same time stimulate metabolic processes as catalysts and enhance biological functions in the body. Like most other vitamins, vitamins of the B group (except B3 and partly folic acid if the intestinal microflora is preserved) the organism cannot make itself, so they are mainly ingested with food or supplements.
In case of insufficient intake or disturbed absorption from the digestive system, partial or complete deficiencies (hypovitaminosis or avitaminosis) occur, which can lead to metabolic disorders or other damage.
B vitamins are important for converting carbohydrates into glucose, the "propellant in our cells" from which cellular energy is generated, they participate in the breakdown of fats and proteins, are important in the restoration of mucous membrane epithelium, support the functions of red blood cells and strengthen the functions of the nervous system.
During stress and exercise as well as aging, the need for vitamin B intake increases.
