Beta glucan is a long-chain polysaccharide (chain of glucose molecules) found naturally in the cell walls of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), many edible fungi and cereals, oats and barges. Its efficacy and activity also depend on the source of beta glucans. Scientists agree that chemically speaking, beta 1,3/1.6 glucans (the position of the bonds in the base chain), which in the greatest quantities we find in yeast, have the greatest positive effectiveness on the work of the immune system.

Beta glucan, due to its action, finds widespread use, where the dose and method of administration play a key role. Cytostatic and cytolytic effect indicates the significance of its effects, which is supported by many scientific studies conducted on beta 1,3/1.6 glucan, but also the fact that in Japan it is registered as an immunostimulace effective in the therapy and prevention of tumor diseases.
Efficacy is proportional to the dose, so higher doses (from 1500 mg/day and even higher) are recommended in oncological terms, while for preventive purposes, i.e. for general strengthening of the immune system, smaller doses may be used.
Beta glucan is especially effective in: all infectious diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi, chronic inflammation, tumour diseases, haematological diseases (leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anaemia), autoimmune diseases (lupus, arthritis, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis..), slow and weak healing of injuries, postoperative recovery, exposure to various types of radiation (UV, electromagnetic..), atherosclerosis (reduces cholesterol, prevents the formation of plaque).
